VIDEO

  • "Why Do Bad Things Happen?" is a video in the Fast Forward series aimed at Middle School Youth 

  • “Life Isn’t Fair” is a video in On the Air series that helps teens discover they are in control of their reactions in a world that isn’t fair.

  • “Suffering:  Resilience” is a video in the Spiritual Homepage series that explores the subject of suffering and resilience from several different perspectives.

  • “Wrestling with Angels” is a video series meant for adults, but could be adapted for High School.  A couple of programs in the series are “Why Me?  If You’re so Good Why are Things so Awful?” and “Why Don’t My Prayers Get Answered?”

  • The Serendipity Youth Bible” has many Bible Studies such as:  Shattered Dreams, The Future, Worry and Anxiety, Change, Patience and Waiting, Anger, Depression, Grief and Loss, Tragedy and Disaster, Weathering Life’s Storms, etc.  Each Bible Study has an ice-breaker, story passage and teaching passage.

  • “What Next?  Meeting and Surviving Change”   is a Youth Bible Study by Augsburg Fortress that has 6 bible studies including “Disappointments,” and “A World of Change.”

  • “Small Group Q’s” contains thoughtful questions—600 of them—on varieties of subjects.  Some of the topics include, “Courage in Adversity,”  “The Test of Adversity,”

  • and many others.

  • “Group’s Best Discussion Launchers for Youth Ministry” Contains discussion questions on a wide variety of topics such as endurance, disappointment, discouragement, and life struggles.

  • www.elca.org/dcm/youth contains Faith Lens that has several Bible Studies for youth using current news stories.

 

FOR LEADERS AND CAREGIVERS

  • “Congregational Trauma:  Caring, Coping and Learning” is a book that includes care strategies, adapting worship, assessment tools for measuring healing, and how tragedy can give rise to healing.
